HP gets it. Vista Print gets it. SMB means small and micro, not medium, business.

It is about business services for "small and micro businesses, not small medium business. It's about incentives for everyone in the network. They understand how to execute the power of the network + incentives.

HP

According to HP, the retail publishing market will grow by more than $36bn (£25.5bn) in the next five years. . . . . . "Not only can customers quickly and easily create customised photo projects, but small and micro businesses can create dynamic, professional-quality, low-cost collateral at retail," he added. . . . The deal expands upon a smaller trial last year and will see the version 4.0 of the HP Photo Center installed in a number of Tesco Extra stores across the UK.
VistaPrint
Schwab says ,"VistaPrint Limited operates as an on-line provider of marketing products and services to small businesses worldwide. " On their website it says "Best Printing. Best Price."

Vista says they are printers, but deliver marketing solutions. Many companies say they are marketing solutions providers, but deliver print. Vista says they have 17,000,000 customers world-wide. As far as I know, Vista Print is built on traditional offset technology, not digital printing.

  1. Thank you for the info.

I was not recommending them, just using them as an example of what's out there in the world of ground>cloud>print.

Your comments are great for our visitors. I haven't yet checked them out, by I'll take you at your word . . . for now.

But, it does mean Vista might be very vulnerable to some one who offers a similar service with a similar incentives, but delivers on the promise.

  2. VistaPrint is not a printer. They are a lead generating website for everything other than print. There are 25 pages of upsells leading your to the checkout, after you have decided to buy print. Printer would not charge you extra if you were to use more than one font on a business card. Printer would not charge you extra to REMOVE printers logo of your business card. Printer would not charge you extra to ship to Canada instead of USA, even though printing facilities are in Canada.

Vista is a bait and switch program, that even the state of California has sued them for. You cannot advertise Free business cards, and still charge for shipping two times more than it costs.

Would anyone like a Free Gold Coin and pay me $1000 for shipping, but also give me rights to resell your information to 25 marketing partners?

  3. More interesting information from the ground.

So..if it's true Some free advice to HP, Kodak, Xerox, Ricoh, Canon et al.

The ability of the offering to gather customers is clear. If this is the customer experience, it seems like the model is clear.

Just do it for real, instead of using it as a marketing scheme. (Assuming of course that this info is mostly correct.)

  4. HP is Back stabbing to 1000's of HP indigo owners, by offering online printing. HP is selling equipment to small print shop and the same time selling to end users, sorry giving FREE!!??

  5. Sorry, I don't see it that way. In the context of the printernet, the networks create the value. The problem for HP indigo owners for these kinds of projects is Staples, Fedex not HP.

For HP/MarketSplash the competition is not their PSP, it's Vista Print.

Meanwhile, if I read the MarketSplash website correctly there is a big spread between "deliver through the mail" and "pick up. That makes alot of sense to me. It means MarketSplash is charging a premium for time and security.

It also means there is room to comp PSP's the same way as they are comping Staples and Tesco.

If they put that comp for PSP's in place, it only means headache jobs go away, expensive front end blabla with non professionals is taken away.

Meanwhile, the PSP gets some money for printing an easy job with predictable results, and the contact with a potential new customer.

If HP does not see that they have the opportunity to build a strong network, instead of getting work, they'll blow it. IMHO.

    Time will tell.

  6. Affiliate Marketing is a performance based sales technique used by companies to expand their reach into the internet at low costs. This commission based program allows affiliate marketers to place ads on their websites or other advertising efforts such as email distribution in exchange for payment of a small commission when a sale results.

  7. How To Make money with affiliate programs Today. Affiliate marketing is the easier and probably the most effective method to make money from the internet. It is basically, a kind of selling technique where potential buyers from your website are directed to the websites of sellers. For every click, the website owner gets a small commission.
